Christian Kirchner House
The Christian Kirchner home was built in 1867. It was the first frame dwelling in Peterson and Clay County. It is standing on the original site and only minor structural changes have been made. Museum open by appointment.

Fort Peterson Blockhouse
Fort Peterson was one of a string of forts constructed in 1862-63 by troops during the Civil War known as the Northern Border Brigade. Fort Peterson’s blockhouse is the only remaining vestige of the entire fortification chain (Peterson Heritage, Inc.). Museum open by appointment.
Glacial Trail Scenic Byway
The Glacial Trail Scenic Byway highlights the best of northwest Iowa with all its beautiful scenery and history as well as recreational opportunities.
InnSpiration Winery
Winery opened in March 2013! They are open Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays. Call them for exact schedule. Enjoy a local Clay County wine on the beautiful deck overlooking the countryside. Their wine list ranges from sweet wines to dark reds.
Jim’s History Barn
A restored 1928 barn featuring the following collections:– Western memorabilia– Indian artifacts – hunting & fishing displays– mounted wildlife– Military items from 1700s – WWII And MUCH more! Open by appointment or chance. Free will offering.

The Kirchner Farm Museum is filled with horse-drawn farm equipment and machines, from decades past. Museum open by appointment.
Rock Forest School
The Rock Forest School was one of the first frame schoolhouses in Clay County. With past memorabilia, the schoolhouse brings you back in time. Museum open by appointment.
Vinestock Wine & Arts Festival
Stroll through downtown Peterson and enjoy wine and beer tasting from various wineries and breweries, as well as delicious food and shopping of arts, crafts and more! Vinestock happens annually on the first weekend in October. Put on by Spencer Radio Group
