Welcome, from the Clay County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CCCVB).  The CCCVB became a reality in June 2011.  It was a vision of several city and county officials.  The organization is jointly funded by the City of Spencer and Clay County.  The CCCVB is under the umbrella of the Spencer Chamber of Commerce and was directed by the Tourism Director.  The CCCVB advisory committee is made up of eight members, of the city and county representatives, that would meet with the Tourism Director monthly.

The CCCVB was formed as a way to promote and develop the entire county, its communities, and the rural areas.  Tourism is a direct form of economic development, with the hope that Clay County may capture a share of regional and national convention business, as well as, showcase the natural beauty and attractions Clay County has to offer.

A major partner in the development of the CCCVB was the Parker Historical Society as they expanded into the Clay County Heritage Center at 7 Grand Avenue in Spencer.  The CVB Office is currently housed inside the Heritage Center.  Until the Heritage Center was constructed, the Tourism Director was housed at the Spencer Chamber of Commerce's office.

By the end of 2016, the decision was made to focus our budget on the CCCVB Tourism Grant which provides funding for those planning an event to be held in Clay County.  These funds are accessible to any business, organization, governmental entity or individual, and eligible events include festivals, performances, sporting events/tournaments or exhibits that occur within Clay County and are designed to attract participants from both within and outside of Clay County.  Ideally, the event will reinforce Clay County as a tourist destination and will serve a large segment of the population or contribute to the quality of life for those who attend.

The creation of the CCCVB has opened many doors for Clay County and their visitors.  Clay is a true hidden treasure, with much to showcase to potential visitors.  We invite you to come and experience the Clay journey that awaits you!

Whether it is a lifetime or just a day, we hope you will: Explore, Stay, Do Clay!
