Clay County Heritage along with Arnold Motor Supply are 
proud to present "Clay County and the Automotive Business:
You Build a Business with People" exhibit. 
The exhibit features the history of Arnold Motor Supply, including
papers of incorporation, the 5 points letter from E.P. Arnold, many
photos, a replica 1940's gas station, the 1927 replica of E.P. Arnold's
delivery vehicle, and family and personal history of E.P. Arnold.
The exhibit will also have artifacts on the Bulldog Foot Accelerator
and will feature several artifacts on loan from VanderHaag's, Inc.
Clay County Heritage is encouraging area residents and visitors to
experience all this exhibit has to offer.  There is no cost to view
the exhibit, as well as admission costs, have been covered thanks to
our generous admission sponsor, Spencer Hy-Vee.

The Exhibit is open from April 5th to September 8th 2017 during
normal business hours.  

The Heritage Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday,and Friday from
10am to 4pm; Thursday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 3pm,
closed Sunday and Monday.

Clay County Heritage also manages The Parker House Museum, which
is open by appointment.  To make an appointment, please call the

Flagfest Parade sponsored by Arnold Motor Supply & Black Hills Energy.
Parade Route will enter Grand Avenue off West 14th Street and proceed
south to the 4th Street Intersection. Over 125 entries to watch as they
make their way down the parade route.

1:00pm to 5:00pm
Inflatables, Concessions and more located in the Skate Park area of 
East Leach Park.  There will be vendors with pop, tropical ice, sandwiches 
and more for your eating and drinking pleasure.  With the sponsorship from
the Spencer Rotary and the U of O Marathon there will be FREE inflatables
which include the Atomic Rush, 24foot Dual Lane Slide, Rainbow bouncer,
and Animal Ranch Combo.  The Iowa Army National Guard is adding to the
fun by bringing in their Rock Wall and 80foot Obstacle Course.
Please note at 2pm  the Clay County Farm Bureau will have a Children's 
Pedal Pull also in East Leach Park.  This for youth from 5 to 12 years of 
age.  Registration will begin at 1:30pm.  For more information, contact

"The Chill" Street Dance at Flagfest
Everyone is invited to this FREE event hosted by the Spencer USA - Young
Professionals of the Spencer Chamber of Commerce at The Bear and Gary's on
the River located at 24 West Park Street. This funfilled evening is sponsored by
Spencer Municipal Utilities.  This is a time to socialize with friends and neighbors.
Entertainment for the evening is Minneapolis based "SSCB" (Some "Crappy"
Cover Band) This group draws on experience from thousands of cumulative
shows, tours, and hard-won fans in their original acts to rise above the monotony
of the Minneapolis cover band scene.

Also for your enjoyment, Grand Cruise and Tunes on Spencer's Grand Avenue
between 8th Street adn Park Street.  This is hosted by the Old Iron Company.
Everyone can bring their old hot rods, classics, muscle cars, antiques and more
to cruise and park on Grand Avenue.  Listen to good old Rock & Roll music, visit

Spencer Airport dba NW IA Regional Airport.  There will be a
Pancake Breakfast in the aircraft hangar. This is open to the

Spencer Municipal Band Concert
Located at the East Leach Park Band Shell. Music provided by the 
Spencer Municipal Band.  This event is FREE to attend.  Bring your 
lawn chairs and relax to the wonderful music.

Cemetery Walk  
Provided by Spencer's Historic Preservation 
Commision and Friends.  Join the Historic Perservation Commission
and friends to learn about the important men and women who helped
shape Spence into the community it is today.  A special emphasis will
be on the formation of the Clay County Fairgrounds and the Parker 
Historical Society, The Daughters of the American Revolution and other
war heroes.  Bring a chair and join us for an hour of history at Riverside
Cemetery.  We ask that you use the east entrance!

Stars and Stripes Night at the Races
Come out to the Clay County Speedway at the Clay County Fairgrounds and 
watch racing by:  MSTS 360 Sprints, Modified, Stock Cars, Sports Mods, 
Hobby Stocks and Sport Compact Race Cars.  Tickets are $15.00 and a

RAGBRAI (Registers Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa)
will be in Spencer for their first overnight stop as they
trek across the northern tier of counties in Iowa.  
Scheduled to perform for the bikers, crew and public is the
Johnny Holm Band taking the stage at 9pm.
